BIO
Carles Muñoz Camarero (11.5.1989)
Born in Barcelona, he took his first musical steps on the cello at the age of five. In 2012, he completed both his concert studies for cello - viola da gamba as a second instrument - at the School of Music of Catalonia (ESMuC) and his journalism studies at the Ramon Llull University. After completing his classical studies, he devoted himself mainly to other musical worlds: ethno, jazz, pop, etc. where improvisation always played a central role. 2014 he relocated to Vienna because of love and stayed because of music. Paralelly he began studying IGP jazz violoncello with Andreas Schreiber at the ABPU in Linz. In 2021, he received the "Startstipendium für Musik und darstellende Kunst" from the Austrian Federal Chancellery to immerse himself in the Swedish nyckelharpa.
Fun facts: he admits he can't live without listening to the radio daily and is passionate about crustaceans like lobsters or goose barnacles, fascinated by islands in the middle of nowhere like Jan Mayen or Tristan da Cunha.
